Coworking issues demands

After sitting down with the council to discuss the possibility of some cash, we’re submitting a proposal for consideration this week - and getting the ball rolling on establishing a not-for-profit as well as applying to smaller funding groups. We’re getting to the guts of it now - where interest needs to become definite answers - and money starts (finally!) playing into the conversation.

  • Are you willing to take a desk full-time at Coworking Belfast?
  • If not, are you interested in signing to part-time contracted hours in the space for a reduced rate?
  • Are you in a position to pay up front for more than the first months rent + deposit?
  • Are you willing to invest financially beyond that?
  • Are you willing to provide, if not cash, but assets to the space - such as computers & furniture?

Anyone who has previously expressed interest should have received this questions in an email last night - if you didn’t please get in touch with me as soon as you can - we want to include as many names in the final proposal as possible to reflect the support the space has been receiving. If you’re planning or taking a desk or not, a few kind works in the comments that would suit quoting would be welcomed also. I’ll put the final version up for everyone to see later in the week.

As said before,
Mac-Sys will front a monthly seat in CoWorking Belfast for one year. We’ll probably never actually occupy the seat but we’ll pay for it. And we intend to throw down a couple of monitors (22 inchers planned) and an intel iMac or two as loans. I would need to see insurance details, security arrangement and something resembling a business plan (though not actually a business plan)

I presume the previous offer has been accepted?

We are working on attempting to get the council to underwrite the rent with its potential funding - and we want a one-to-one meeting with Alliance & Leister to chat to them about the use of the space without the estate agent involvement.

We should be in a position to provide you with insurance, security, business plan etc soon. Lovely!

Are you effectively asking for people to register their interest to make your proposal stronger?

If so, then I like the idea, it’d be of special interest to me, perhaps not at this stage but definitely in a few months time when I get my own dated equipment sorted. i.e. a Mac amongst other things…

Well, lots of people have already registered interest - it’s guarantees we need at this stage! But I’ll keep you in mind, Quinn!

Hey Andy,

Co-Working Belfast would be a valuable addition to the growth of my small business - the opportunity to share space and expertise with technologists and entrepreneurs in Belfast is a rare one that I’m excited to be a part of.

PC, Monitor and desk (as well as possibly an office chair) I can offer for communal use (yikes, that sounded like yoda)

Excited, I am.

Cheers Nick - but can you rewrite the first bit in yodish? :)

Andy on 12th May 2008 - 9:56pm

Oh yes, regarding equipment, once i get a mac i’ll have two old hard drives that could be made useful…
